Pssstt!!....

Hey guys!
i've been a bit quiet on the blogging front-was making room for Christmas and all that jazz! now I feel fully replenished and back to the world of Weddings!! woop!

a little update from us

so I think we have found our caterers, they are super nice and very passionate about food - once even re-created the infamous In and Out Burger (oooh imagine serving those as main course!!) and no idea Mark and I threw at them seemed to phase them - i like these kinda people
next comes the tasting session! this is going to happen in March when we have locked down a menu...i'm so excited to eat everything, I may even pick up tips from Masterchef and learn the right things to say when sampling, or I will just be like "thats bloody delicious, can I have more please?!"

My dad has been ordering wine for the wedding too- we had some extra bottles over Christmas to try and out, and the verdict is- they are very nice to drink...a bit too nice, right Mel? :P

so now Mark and I are designing the invitations, we wanted these to be personal and have our own touch...and so far, so good! I am brushing my skills in Illustrator software along the way too. The plan is for us to design it all now and then when we go to the Philippines (Feb 15th) we will get them printed out there and possibly be sending them out in April!! its all happening very fast!!

due to my need for everything to match - I will probably be updating this blog to match the theme of everything else too! watch this space!

anyways, hope everyone is doing well, Alee and Christina- I hope you are saving your pennies, I have ridiculous amount of stuff I want to show you whilst you're in London.
oh, also, Mel and me were chatting - as Alee and Chris won't be around most likely for the hen party I still want to do something special with just the bridesmaids after the wedding, if its just literally having a small party in our house with u or going for a meal or joint spa treatment- just want to spend some time with my special girls to say thanks

Josie has something to say!

Potential bridesmaid outfit? haha, I had to get our friend Josie on the page! ;)

On a more romantic note and still on topic...

"That thing, that moment, when you kiss someone and everything around becomes hazy and the only thing in focus is you and this person and you realize that that person is the only person that you're supposed to kiss for the rest of your life, and for one moment you get this amazing gift and you want to laugh and you want to cry because you feel so lucky that you found it and so scared that that it will go away all at the same time."

And good night!

lots of bunting, jars, fairy lights and fun!

oh hello there! hope you're having a wonderful week- right now i'm back in the giraffe onesie watching X factor and updating this.
Today I would like to share with you some colour/theme ideas, the colours of the wedding will be quite plain, the bride in white, groom in a different shade of grey to the ushers and bridesmaids, and all the colour coming through the flowers and decorations - as you all know, its going to be an arty farty wedding!

As Mark and me are not the most formal of people we want to have a relaxed and fun atmosphere- it's all about love and don't want anyone feeling uncomfortable, this would be the ideal kinda vibe we would like

yep, lots of bunting, jars, fairy lights and fun! I think I have told some of you but we want to collect jam jars or any type of glass jars (mason jars to you stateside :P ) as we are planning to put coloured sand in the middle and then tea lights (possibly battery ones) inside and then tie something around the top like ribbon or string... We are going to use these for the middle of the tables instead of the massive flowers or ornaments, as I find they get in the way when you talk to people on the other side of the table, no? so prob have abut 5 or 6 on each table and then some around the venue for deocoration...
all these pictures have been taken from pinterest,i've become completely obsessed with the site! such nice ideas on there- and I have linked it on the side of this post -----> Mel and Hannah, you guys have Pinterest pages, do you want to add them to the link side too?

Mark and me have spent lots of time venue searching and  will update you on another post on that one, but for now I leave you with this.... I think its filmed in the BAC where we went to the vintage fair last week!
.. I saw this video and asked Mark if we can hire them for our wedding :) hehee

Miss Vintage Wedding

Hello everyone! hope you had a fabulous weekend, mine has been full of James Bond, stop motion, finding new places to drink, having pre-Christmas feelings, eating wayyy too much and new love for hash browns in chicken burgers!... but anyways, about weddings-

Today Miss Michelle and me went off to Battersea Arts Centre for their Miss Vintage Wedding Affair, it was full of very unique and beautiful ideas and everyone was very nice. Michelle was on bridesmaids patrol taking both myself and her friend Jackie who she is also a bridesmaid for! I'm not really thinking of having a vintage wedding- but it's always nice to look (and possibly steal) their ideas for ours. Here are a few pics taken from it

This is the Venue, its a really nice hall and completely suited the fair. Coincidentally, Mark had been in contact with them already on hiring their other theatre for our wedding reception! watch this space on news on that...

this is a really nice cake - all her cakes were nice,
but I didn't get to actually taste any of them!

There was a lot of use of pearls and suitcases - I guess these are just for props?

completely love the idea of these flags sticking out of cakes! The company were selling them, but i'm pretty sure I can make them- whose up for some DIY with me?! :D

also love the idea of these cake pops - so cute! I have a book on how to make these- (another DIY project coming on I see...)
I kinda like this cake as it's not white- its a bit too girly though don't you think? its so easy to make weddings girly hahaha.

so, yeah these are a few of my finds, let me know what you think!

Hope you all have a brilliant week ahead! xxx

1000 paper cranes

You might know that I am a bit obsessed with Japan and there is a big tradition that a couple should make 1000 paper cranes to represent good luck. These should be made by the bride and groom to be, so Mark and me started this last week

here we have the first 4 - only 996 to go!!  but eventually we will string them up and hang them somewhere at the reception so will look like this:

"The ancient practice of a happy couple folding 1,000 cranes for their wedding is called sembazuru. The tradition itself is called Tsuru wa sennen. The time and energy put into the thousand hand-folded origami cranes symbolized the patience and trust necessary to sustain a happy marriage. A couple who could weather the long, time intensive folding process together, supporting each other, talking with each other for weeks while taking on a challenging task was proving their ability to maintain a long term, content relationship. "

I will let you know when our hands become crippled from all the paper folding
